ALLERGIES & SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
Special diets : Please discuss if you or any guest has special dietary requirements. Cakes can be made Gluten free, dairy and alcohol free.
Please be aware that although ingredients such as nuts can be removed from cakes, they are still used in our kitchen and no absolute nut free guarantee can be given, as some ingredients are not guaranteed nut free by the manufacturers.
Most cakes contain small proportions of inedible items: it is the client`s responsibility to ensure that these are removed by your caterer/guests before consumption e.g. Support dowels in tiered cakes, ribbon, wires in sugar flowers, flower picks & tapes and any other parts discussed with Abby’s Cakes.
DELIVERY / COLLECTION CONDITIONS
Cakes can be delivered by prior arrangement. It is the customer`s responsibility to ensure someone is available to accept the delivery at the agreed time and address. Cakes should be inspected on receipt to ensure that they were not damaged in transit, as you (or any third party taking delivery e.g. wedding venue/hotel etc.) shall be solely responsible for any damage which occurs after delivery of products or as a result of failure to follow any instructions/advice we may give in respect of storage, setting up or further transportation.
On the day of collection, your order may be collected at a pre-arranged time, as agreed with Abby’s Cakes. We will provide you with the necessary assembly instructions. Extreme care should be taken during transportation. The cake must be positioned on a flat surface, such as the boot, (seats are not suitable). Sudden braking and sharp turns should be avoided and if the weather is warm, ensure that you have the air conditioning on throughout the journey. Please note that once the product has been collected, full responsibility for the product lies with the client. Abby’s Cakes assumes no responsibility for any damage that may occur once it has left the premises.
STORAGE & CONSUMPTION
The portion guides are intended as a guide only. This will vary depending upon how the cakes is cut.
Your cake is made entirely of natural ingredients, and baked to ensure it is fresh for the date of your event. It will not have the extended shelf life of most supermarket cakes, which contain additives and preservatives. We cannot guarantee quality if it’s consumed more than 48 hours after the event.
Sugar paste sponge cakes should not be refrigerated, as it will cause condensation on the icing and also accelerates the staling of the flour.
Freezing the cake however, preserves the taste of the sponge and icing as much as feasibly possible, but please bear in mind the visual appearance of the icing will be affected on defrosting. Food hygiene recommendations recommend that it is frozen for a maximum of 3 months.
